Steven C. Tycksen
Steve is the Managing Partner of Tycksen & Shattuck and has 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer. He has served as a member of the Advisory Board to the Salt Lake County Juvenile Detention Center and volunteered his time for over 20 years serving as a Small Claims Judge Pro Tem in Utah’s Justice Court System.
Steve is a trained Mediator. His mediation experience allows him to resolve complex legal problems quickly and efficiently. Much of Steve’s practice is devoted to family law. Because of his family law expertise he was appointed by Governor Norman H. Bangerter to serve as a member of the Legislative Family Law Task Force that drafted and recommended the Uniform Parent-Time Guidelines, and implemented mandatory Divorce Parent Education classes in the State of Utah.
Steve earned his J.D. degree from Brigham Young University – J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1979, and graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management in 1976, with a minor in accounting.
Steve’s areas of practice include: General Litigation, Appellate work, Personal Injury (Plaintiff’s lawyer), Bankruptcy (Creditor and Debtor representation in Chapter 11, Chapter 13 and Chapter 7), Family Law, Mediation, Business Law, Construction Law, Estate Planning, and Business Planning.
Steve is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Utah, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Tenth Circuit.
Chad C. Shattuck
Chad Shattuck is a Partner at Tycksen & Shattuck, LLC, and has worked with Steven Tycksen for since October 2004. Since admission to the Bar in 2002, he has helped hundreds of clients resolve critical legal issues in a professional and responsive manner.
Prior to forming Tycksen & Shattuck, LLC, Chad worked with Steve Tycksen at Zoll & Tycksen, L.C. from 2004-2007. Chad was legal counsel for the Western States Water Council from 2001 through 2004, where he developed extensive experience in water-related issues and environmental litigation, as well as being involved in the water-related legislative efforts for eighteen Western states. He provided advice to state representatives and also published a weekly analysis of environmental litigation in a nationally circulated newsletter.
Chad has several years of successful trial and appellate experience representing clients before the Utah Supreme Court, Utah Court of Appeals, Utah District Courts, in State administrative courts and before various state commissions. He has also appeared before the United States Supreme Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Tenth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Utah.

In his spare time, Chad enjoys a good ride on a zip line or rope swing, bungee swinging, hiking, camping, Crossfit, traditional sports, other recreation with his family, and volunteering in his community.
